Abstract:
An adolescent is expected to choose a particular stream from vocational and academic groups at the senior secondary stage. The students opting for academic streams have to decide the pursuance of higher studies in the field of arts, science, or commerce whereas the vocational stream aims to divert a large number of students to the world of work by attracting them to need-based, region-specific vocational courses. The right career choice thus leads to personal growth, happiness and, life values. Career aspiration provide children with the definition of right and wrongs, the patterns of behaviour, the expectation and the evaluation of actions on which children base their own ideas.
So, this study proposed to find out the difference in boys and girls in dimensions (dedication, motivation, realization, self-confidence and preparation) of Career Aspiration by using career aspiration scale on 100 higher secondary students (including 50 boys and 50 girls). The results reveal that boys and girls have a significant difference in dedication, realization, self-confidence and preparation of career aspiration and no significant difference in motivation dimension. This shows effect of blended mode of teaching-learning, and unsecure career atmosphere.
